What Are ID Documents? Identity Verification Guide for New Members

After you sign up, please send your ID documents to our office within 1 week.

Log in to Mybox and upload a smartphone photo of your ID under “Submit ID documents.”
Please note that we cannot provide your address until we receive your ID documents.

About ID documents

If your ID documents are unclear and the details cannot be read accurately, we may ask you to send them again.

If mail or parcels arrive after the submission deadline and we still have not received your ID documents, we may charge you a storage fee.

Accepted ID documents

Any one of the following (it must show your name, address and date of birth, and be valid for receiving mail and parcels).
*Please submit a valid (unexpired) document, showing the parts with your registered address, date of birth and name.
*Please submit a color photo.

Identity check after you submit your ID

Under the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds, we send restricted delivery mail (addressee only, special type) to customers who use a private mailbox service.
Restricted delivery mail (addressee only, special type) is a Japan Post service: the mail can be received only by the addressee named on it, who must show ID documents when receiving it. Once you receive it, the forwarding service starts.

How to receive restricted delivery mail (addressee only, special type)

The post office holds the mail for 10 days. Please be sure to receive it before the storage period ends.

*If you do not receive the restricted delivery mail within the deadline, it must be sent again.
A separate handling fee of 900 yen applies. If your account is put on hold in this state, the following additional charges apply, so please be careful.
If your identity cannot be confirmed, our office cannot help in any way, so we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

From the month after registration: penalty for not submitting ID documents: 30,000 yen/month

Handling of mail that cannot be forwarded
Storage fee: 21 days *You can re-register once (after the maximum storage period of 42 days, it is disposed of automatically)
Disposal fee: 550 yen per item

A notice of arrival will come from the delivering post office of Japan Post Co., Ltd.

If you want delivery to your home

Choose your preferred delivery date and time slot from the list below, and contact the delivery branch named on the notice of arrival.

• Morning (about 8:00-12:00)
• Afternoon 1 (about 12:00-14:00)
• Afternoon 2 (about 14:00-17:00)
• Evening (about 17:00-19:00)
• Night (about 19:00-21:00)

If you want to pick it up at a post office counter

Bring the notice of arrival or the notice of missed delivery to the post office counter (Yu-Yu counter). If you pick it up at the Yu-Yu counter, you can change from the delivering post office to another post office. Please contact the number shown on the notice of arrival.

Please show your ID documents when you receive the mail

For home delivery, the symbol and number of your ID document will be recorded (if they cannot be recorded, the mail may not be handed over). If you pick it up at the post office counter, a copy may be made with your consent.

ID documents accepted when receiving the mail

To receive the mail, please prepare and show any one of the following ID documents (it must show your name, address and date of birth, and be valid for receiving mail and parcels).

• Passport
• Driver’s license
• Basic Resident Register Card with photo
• My Number Card with photo
• Residence card or Special Permanent Resident certificate *Alien registration certificates are not accepted
• Photo ID issued by a government agency or special public corporation
• Insured person’s card for health insurance, National Health Insurance, mariners’ insurance, etc.
• Mutual aid association member card
• National Pension handbook
• Pension handbook
• Photo qualification certificate issued by a public agency (such as a rehabilitation certificate or physical disability certificate)

If you cannot receive the restricted delivery mail (addressee only, special type), or if the post office storage period has passed, we will temporarily suspend your forwarding service.
The suspension cannot be lifted until we send restricted delivery mail (addressee only, special type) again to confirm your address.
If you would like it lifted, please contact us through the contact form. We will send it again.

Notes on restricted delivery mail (addressee only, special type)

* No one other than you (including family members living with you) can receive it.

* You must show your ID documents when it is delivered or when you pick it up at the counter.

* It is delivered as undeliverable-as-addressed (no forwarding) mail, so it cannot be delivered to customers who have moved from the address on the application or filed a change-of-address notice.

* If you are not home at the time of delivery, Japan Post may call the phone number you registered.

* If the details confirmed when the mail is handed over differ from your application, our office will contact you later. In such cases, your use of the service may be restricted, so please understand this in advance.

* Please note that in the restricted delivery mail procedure, your application will be canceled in the following cases.

• The mail does not reach the address you entered on your application, or you do not receive the mail.
• The name and address on the ID document you show do not match what you registered on your application.
• Your identity cannot be confirmed.
• You refuse to accept the mail.
• When the mail is handed over, you do not agree to show your ID documents or to have the details recorded.

How to send your ID documents

Submitting by upload

After logging in to MYBOX, you can upload your ID data (image file) from the “ID Verification Procedure” menu.
The maximum file size is 1MB, and the accepted formats are jpg, gif, png and bmp.

Submitting by mail

To submit by mail, you can download a mailing envelope from the “Download” menu. Please send your documents in the downloaded envelope.
