Mercari is Japan’s biggest flea-market app — anime goods, idol merchandise, vintage fashion, cameras, games and much more, often at great prices. But Mercari sellers ship only to addresses in Japan, so you cannot have an item sent directly to your home abroad.
Two ways to buy on Mercari from abroad
- Use a proxy-buying service — a shopping service (including those partnered with Mercari) buys the item for you and ships it overseas.
- Buy it yourself and ship it to a Japanese address — you place the order, enter a Japanese address as the delivery address, and the parcel is forwarded to you from there.
If you buy with your own Mercari account, account registration and identity checks (such as a Japanese phone number) may be required. Please check Mercari’s terms of use before you buy.
Receive it at your own address in Japan — we forward it abroad
MyLetter.jp has provided Japanese addresses since 2006. Use your address in Tokyo (Ginza) or Osaka as the delivery address, and we forward your parcels to your address overseas.
- Sign up — you get your own Japanese address with a Box number.
- Enter it as the delivery address on Mercari — for the seller, it is a normal domestic order.
- We tell you when it arrives — through Mybox (your member page, available in English) and by email.
- Request forwarding in Mybox — we ship it to your address abroad (EMS and other services).
Bundle items from several sellers into one shipment
On Mercari, each item usually comes from a different seller. We can pack parcels from several sellers together and send them in one shipment, which keeps international postage down. Parcels from Etsy, Yahoo! Auctions, Rakuten and fan-club shops can go in the same box. See our EMS shipping rates from Japan for postage by country and weight.
Overseas Free Plan — no monthly base fee (¥0)
- No monthly base fee and no ID document required. You pay only when we forward a parcel.
- Forwarding to overseas addresses only.
- If three months or more pass since your last forwarding, a fee of ¥880 per inactive month applies.
- If you also want items forwarded within Japan, choose the Free or Basic plan (ID document required).
Please note
- Some items cannot be sent abroad — for example products with batteries, liquids and dangerous goods. Trading cards (Pokémon, One Piece and others) cannot currently be shipped overseas by EMS. Please ask us before you buy.
- We do not inspect items for authenticity or check that they work. For expensive branded items, consider Mercari’s own authentication service.
- Customs duties and taxes in your country, if any, are paid by the recipient.
- For postage and fees, see the price list.
